RETURN TO HOMEPAGESteel Plate Bonding
High strength structural adhesives can be used to bond suitable steel plates to externally strengthen reinforced concrete structures. Steel plate bonding is used in strengthening concrete for increased loads, damage to structural elements, improvements in use and refurbishment of existing structures. The technique is used for bridge strengthening, suspended floor slabs and beams where there is minimal interruption to the normal use of the structure. RSS, as a specialist contractor, will prepare the plates, prepare the concrete substrate and bond the plates to the structure. Epoxy Structural Adhesive is used in conjunction with a recommended primer where required and provides excellent moisture resistance, good shear strength and tensile strength. The installation of externally bonded steel plates should comply with Department of Transport Advice Note BA 30/94.
